Hotel Del Patio

It was a great experience, and I’d absolutely recommend this hotel. The place is beautiful, the rooms are clean, and the staff are super friendly. It’s quieter than Flores but still close to everything. Breakfast was great as well. Special thanks to Miguel, Rudy, Benjamin, and Alexis.

Water jugs are set up at two ends of the courtyard so you can refill your bottle, and there’s a pool and lounging area too. The rooms are large and clean, with comfortable beds and high quality linens. Air conditioning worked well, or you can use the ceiling fan. In November, we didn’t really need either at night. WiFi was a little spotty in the room at times, but stepping outside took only a few seconds. I didn’t try the restaurant. Breakfast has to be ordered ahead, and the prices were in line with the higher rates in tourist areas, above what I’m used to back home. I’d happily come again and recommend it to visitors.

We had a very bad experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to a friend. The front desk staff weren’t friendly, and we were charged extra after checking in, with hidden fees. Read everything before signing at checkout, and don’t trust the front desk staff. There’s no parking, the cable TV signal is very poor, and WiFi isn’t free. Breakfast is overpriced. Flores Island has better hotels and much better breakfast restaurants. We recommend capitan Tortuga.

Everything at the hotel was as expected, and I recommend staying here. I wouldn’t book tours through them, though. They add a surcharge of 50-75 quetzales, about ~$10, for tours you can book for less with one of the agencies on the island. Breakfast wasn’t good, and the coffee was pretty bad too. They should improve that part of the experience.
