A good budget spot if you're backpacking and want to meet locals or make new friends. The shared areas, including the garden lounge, are nice places to relax in the evening, and the nearest beach is just a 10 minute walk away. They serve good dishes for 6000 CFA, with breakfast for 2000 CFA. Definitely worth trying.

The accommodation looks nice, but that was the only good part of my stay. The breakfast was average at best, and on our last day they didn't prepare any at all. The bigger issue was the room price. We were told one price at first, then asked to pay four times the advertised amount. We couldn't leave the island until we agreed, and even after paying, an employee kept pressuring us for more money. If the room prices had been clear from the start, we could have avoided all that drama. I wouldn't stay here unless you're comfortable with staff trying to rip you off whenever they can.

The owner seems unconcerned about how the staff behave. They try to sell overpriced tours and other services, and may keep asking for more money after you've already agreed on a price. That makes it hard to trust basic business agreements here. Breakfast is poor quality white bread with cheap margarine and chocolate spread, below island standards and well below international ones, even for a low budget place. If you want to enjoy Bubaque and the surrounding area, I'd suggest staying somewhere else. There are other places, though they can be a bit harder to find. If you do stay here, good luck.

Look for somewhere else to stay. The staff don't seem to care about guests' comfort, and they keep trying to add charges for all sorts of things. The services they arrange seem focused on getting as much money out of you as possible. They also don't seem to understand the importance of keeping a good reputation or following standard business practices.

Mango Lodge is close to the port and to small restaurants, a minimarket, and other places nearby. Madi, the manager, was lovely and really looked after the guests. By the end of my stay I'd met lots of travelers to share stories and a cold beer with. The bar's caipirinha at night was a great bonus.
