Pop Inn Mong Kok

The staff were professional and really helpful, and I got clean towels every day. That was the only upside. Everything else felt rusty, moldy, or cheaply made, and the area outside the hotel stank. The sink counter pooled water, so I got wet whenever I was near it. There weren’t enough bathroom hooks, and nowhere to hang long trousers after ironing. There was plenty of wall space and a long corridor in my room, so why no hooks or shelves? I felt poor just staying here. This is only for people with very low budgets. I regret not reading reviews before booking.

The location was the one good part. It was close enough to the action, bus and train stations, and shops, but not right in the middle of it. I liked that, and never felt unsafe walking back at night. The staff were okay too. The room didn’t feel clean or soundproof. Mold covered the ceiling, the air smelled unpleasant, and the duvet was musty, which isn’t surprising when the room seems left to mold. The bed was rock hard and gave me terrible back pain. Some guests had no consideration for anyone else, slamming doors and shouting in their rooms at night. Someone even smoked in their room, and the AC carried the smell into mine for two days. Smoke mixed with mold, yeah... 🙃

The building feels old, but it was still okay overall. The location is handy, right in the Mongkok area, and it's not a long walk to the shelter bus. Just be ready for a lot of noise if you hear something, you know what, in the middle of the night.

For the price, this place is okay, and the staff were friendly. It's close to Mong Kok station and the main street, though there isn't much to do right around it. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling, and the building doesn't have a microwave.
