Hotel Buena Vista

My main problem was the noise. Dogs were barking and fighting at the hotel until 2 in the morning, something the hotel could address. The rooms were clean, but breakfast was very limited. It’s not close to amenities, and you have to walk up a steep hill from town.

The pool was nice and our room was clean, but the internet barely worked. The worst part was what happened with our laundry. We’d arranged for it to be brought to the front desk by the people washing it, but the man there insisted it hadn’t arrived. We ended up driving around Copán in a tuktuk at 10 pm to find the laundry woman, bring her back to the hotel, and get it sorted out. The staff at Buena Vista were dismissive and unhelpful. Based on this experience, they probably shouldn’t be working in a service industry. I’d give them zero stars if I could.

We come back here every time we travel to Copan. It’s a comfortable, relaxing place for a fantastic price, with great views of Copan and an easy walk to the square. The customer service is top notch. We’re early risers, so we asked for coffee at 6 am even though breakfast doesn’t start until 7, and it was always ready for us.

We keep coming back because the staff are friendly, and the hotel is cozy, charming, and very well kept. It’s an older place with modern conveniences, a lovely courtyard pool, and a nice view. You can walk to the town’s central park, about 1/4 mile away, but it’s far enough from the crowds. We’ve stayed here three times over the past six years: first in 2012 for the Mayan celebration, then in 2014, and again in June 2018. We liked it on our first visit and still do.
