The bed was fairly comfortable, the WiFi worked fine, and the location was okay. The place has potential, but it seems they haven’t invested in it since the Mayan period. For the price, it was the worst value we’ve had in months of budget travel. We paid over $30 a night for a room booked through Booking, and before we arrived the owner was asking for money on WhatsApp to confirm it, which felt shady. There were some problems they fixed after we reported them: the toilet was clogged and there were dirty towels in the bathroom. But the replacement towel was old, holey, and stained from age or dirt. There was no privacy because the curtain was transparent, so people in the lobby and hotel corridor could see everything. The owner didn’t think that was a problem. There was no water, and the owner knew but didn’t mention it until we brought it up. We were allowed to shower in another bathroom, but it was dirty, with hair and dirt. The next day they said the water was back, but it wasn’t, so we had to ask for another room. That room’s bathroom was dirty too, with hair everywhere, and both the toilet and sink were broken and falling apart.

The building is an interesting one. You enter on what turns out to be the second floor, and the common areas are nicely decorated. We had a double room for about $16 a night, which was okay. There’s a shared kitchen, free drinking water, and decent WiFi. The staff tried to help, but were often a bit odd and hard to communicate with, even though Spanish is my first language. It wasn’t the most efficient hostel, but I had a good experience.

The room was clean and had a nice family feel, and the place was quiet apart from the owners talking in the lobby until 10 pm. Their voices echoed. I paid $30 including taxes during Semana Santa 2022, with no breakfast included. The windows were open when I checked in, so mosquitoes were in my room all night. Humidity left everything damp, even the sheets and mattress. The faucet was broken, though the hot water was nice. No shampoo or hair dryer, but there was a big bath towel and a small bar of soap.

The bed was comfortable and the location was great. The kitchen was clean and had plenty of utensils, but I wouldn’t recommend the place. My room was quite dirty. The floor hadn’t been swept or mopped, and I could feel dirt underfoot. The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned either, or staff would have noticed the blocked shower drain and personal sanitary items left behind. There was no hot water, and the room fan didn’t work. The building has no atmosphere, and sound carries loudly off the concrete walls at night. The owners sat at reception talking loudly and watching TV. When I politely asked them to keep it down because I had an early morning, I was shooed away. The owner was rude at check-in too.
