Mayan Hills Resort

The staff were super nice, and the room on the second floor with a creek view was marvelous: a king-size bed and five windows looking out over the forest. I felt surrounded by nature here, absolutely beautiful. I would have given five stars if there had been an inside security lock on the door, something I value a lot as a solo female traveler. The pool water was a bit murky, and no one answered when I called the restaurant or reception from my room. Despite those issues, this is the best place to stay in Copan. We paid more than average for the quiet the place promised, but at 5:30 am we were woken by extremely loud Zumba music from the gym. No staff were around except whoever had opened it. When they finally arrived at 8 am, they didn't seem to care much when I raised the issue and said they'd pass it on to management. It's a beautiful, quiet place with a swimming pool and lovely butterflies, and I was going to write a great review. Only stay if a good night's sleep doesn't matter to you.

With our two kids, we spent one night here and had a horrible experience. The pool wasn't working, so they couldn't swim in the afternoon. Then the room flooded when the guests above us showered. The office was closed for the night, and it took a few minutes to get a maintenance person to let us into another room. That room's shower was clogged, so we had to keep turning it on and off to avoid standing in dirty water. Really disappointing, not recommended.

The place was pleasant to walk around and relax in, with wifi, a mariposario, pool, restaurant and gym. The hotel was very nice and comfortable, but the parking lot is tiny and can barely fit 10 cars. The jacuzzi doesn't work, and we lost power a couple of times at night. I gave it 4/5.
