This place is a great value. If you want a budget stay that still feels like a proper beach vacation, it’s a good option. It isn’t beachfront, but it’s literally steps from the beach and feels that way because it shares amenities with the beachfront property next door. Our room was cute, very clean, and comfortable. The double queen room was a little small, but worked fine for us. There was an entire wall of open storage that worked well for our family of four. We only used the room to sleep, so we didn’t need more space. The shower and bathroom were great, and we loved having a fridge and coffee maker in the room. The included breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day. Kimberly at the front desk was incredibly helpful, and both my kids thought Eduardo in the restaurant was the coolest guy ever. My daughter even drew him a picture before we left. We usually had the pool to ourselves, and the beach was glorious. We went on lots of excursions and explored, and had a wonderful time. We ate most of our meals at the Placita out front and liked trying local food at reasonable prices.

The staff made us feel welcome throughout our visit, always friendly and ready to help, and the service was excellent. We felt right at home in the comfortable atmosphere at La Placita Inn. I’d definitely recommend staying here and look forward to coming back.

The rooms are very clean and well appointed, and the boutique hotel setup gives you access to all the Mayan Princess amenities. There are several food options on site, and the location is perfect, with easy beach access and great snorkeling right off West Bay Beach. Just know the beach gets crowded when cruise ships are in town, then clears out around 2 pm when they have to head back to the ship.

Getting a taxi back to the airport was easy. Micheal at the front desk was so kind and helpful. He mentioned he was new, but whenever he didn't know something, he found the answer, and even tracked down a wine opener for me. His recommendations were all great.

The pool being closed was the main problem, especially since I wasn't told until after I'd paid. If I'd known ahead of time, I wouldn't have stayed at La Placita Inn. I asked for an adjustment and was offered only 15% off at the restaurant, which felt unfair and misleading, so I had to speak with the manager to get a discount on the room. Guests should be told in advance when a facility is unavailable. The room itself was comfortable, and the location is convenient, with several good restaurants nearby. Breakfast is free, which was a nice extra. I'd suggest checking whether the pool is open before booking.
