Everything you need in one place, and easy to reach. The local West Bay hotels are only a few minutes’ walk away.

It’s handy if you’ve forgotten something like sunscreen, and useful for grabbing a late-night snack, though the selection is limited. Prices seem a bit high to me. The ATM looks like it hasn’t worked in months. I tried it without success, and during the week I stayed in Roatan, I saw lots of people from nearby resorts stare at it and get frustrated too.

The shops are small and mostly aimed at tourists, but there’s a decent variety for people staying in nearby hotels or cabins. Prices are a bit high compared with other places on the island. If you’re American, watch out: taxis may try to charge you double or triple the usual fare from there.

Mangiano deli serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner at reasonable prices. Java coffee and wine bar opens at 7:30, and the deli opens at 8. It’s about a five-minute walk, and you can get there by cutting through bananarama, walking through the alley to the next street, then turning left. Good place for market items, early breakfast, and more, with off-beach prices.
