Gran Mediterraneo

I had a good stay at the Mediterraneo Hotel. It’s a city hotel with helpful, friendly staff, close to the center, and has 24-hour security and a restaurant on site. It suited my business needs. The covered indoor pool probably wouldn’t be a reason to book here. I’d definitely stay again on my next trip to San Pedro Sula.

The online rate was cheap, but the amenities were terrible. The pool is small and right in the middle of the hotel’s dining area, which feels awkward for both guests and people eating. The air conditioning didn’t work unless you left your card in the slot as if you were in the room all day, and the unit made me worry about Legionnaires’ disease. The beds were hard, and the room wasn’t even motel 6 worthy.

The front desk staff were kind and respectful. I was there with a delegation of 45, along with three other delegations, so handling that many people wasn’t easy for a hotel like this. I’d come back on my own or with my family. The rooms were spacious and clean, though dated, and the TV didn’t have HDMI. We ran out of hot water. Breakfast was limited but tasty. The pool seemed more like decoration than something guests could use, and it needs maintenance.

It was a beautiful hotel, mostly very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had some trouble with the shower, and the parking garage was a tight squeeze for our Suburban. Apart from those things, it was great.
