Hotel Las Cascadas

Downtown San Pedro Sula had plenty of hotels, but the ones I found were overpriced, full, or didn't have the number of beds my family needed. Hotel las Cascadas turned out to be the right choice for us: a great price and super clean. At first I was worried because the halls felt warm, then I realized they save energy by having you use your key to turn on the A/C in the room. We slept really well. I highly recommend it, you won't regret it.

The family who runs the business are great people, and it feels like a place where you can feel at home. The rooms vary, with or without a kitchen and with terraces, and I've enjoyed the different ones I've stayed in. If you get up early, you might see monkeys outside. Hotel Las Cascadas is surrounded by jungle, so I love seeing the wildlife. There's a nice pool for relaxing with a cocktail, and my favorite spot is the hammock at the top of the property. It's only a few minutes' walk to the Marina, with its restaurants, bars, and shops, and to the center of Quepos for more shopping. From there, the bus to Manuel Antonio beach is easy and cheap. They were going to open a new restaurant in the hotel soon called The Secret. I already got to try some delicious meals from their Argentinian chefs. You have to try the Pizza! This is my third time back in Costa Rica, and each time I've spent a few nights here. I recommend staying when you're in the area.

The rooms were clean and modern, with a great view, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel is safe and takes nighttime security very seriously. I needed a taxi to the airport, and they provided a reliable one. It was a great experience, though I only stayed a short time.

The walls are thin enough that you can hear someone sneeze in a room down the hall. Parking is limited, too, so if you arrive late, you may have to leave your car outside on the street. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are nice, and the internet is decent. The location in the city is good, and the decor is nice.
