Hotel & Suites El Picacho

The staff were polite and seemed to be trying to help, but our Friday to Sunday stay at Hotel El Picacho for a family wedding was deeply problematic. We were moved three times because there was no hot water. The shower in the first room never heated up, and maintenance made things worse. The replacement rooms we were shown looked out of service, with broken furniture and mattresses in the living rooms. After we finally changed rooms, there was no hot water again the next morning. December was cold in Tegucigalpa, and we were downgraded from the double room we had booked to a single because it was the only room with hot water. Leaving the hotel, our car hit an unmarked pile of tiles on a blind curve in the driveway. There were no warning signs or barriers, and the guard nearby said nothing. The car got stuck and needed towing to Comayagua, which cost about 5000 HNL, plus repairs, all right before the wedding. Management wasn’t available over the weekend. When we contacted the general manager later, they blamed the driver and dismissed the issue instead of addressing the unsafe conditions. A week later, we still had no resolution. The infrastructure is old, the plumbing failed, the driveway was unsafe, and management responded poorly, all for about $100/night. Worst hotel experience I’ve had. Legal actions to follow.
