Tranquility Bay Beach Retreat

My wife and I still remember how warmly the owners welcomed us when we stayed here several years ago. They had just lost their son in an accident, yet they opened the hotel to us. We remain grateful for their hospitality at such a difficult time. If you're staying in Trujillo, this is the place!

We only had two days at Tranquility Bay Beach Retreat in April 2019, and I really wish we'd had more time. Larry and Linda made us feel so welcome, the restaurant food was very good, and our well-equipped room had AC. Getting straight to the beach was easy, too. We'll definitely come back. Thanks for making our quick trip to Trujillo so memorable!

The room was clean, everything worked, and we were comfortable with just the fan during our two nights here. We were in the tropics for ten days, so AC wasn't something we needed. The small restaurant had excellent food, friendly staff, and a good choice of local and international drinks. We loved the laid-back pace and how welcoming both the owners and staff were, and hope to return soon. Getting there was part of the experience. We flew from Roatan on Tranquility Air, with captain Patrick bringing us across the clear water for a smooth landing at their hangar. Linda then drove us in the hotel land cruiser and told us about the region, its people, and what makes it special. The grounds were beautifully landscaped, with ancient Mayan stone carvings, and the animal rescue and its pets made for a distinctive welcome. We stayed two nights while on a week-long mission to a nearby community. Larry and Linda were wonderful hosts, both warm and generous with their hospitality.

The people here made the stay feel special. The staff were so friendly and worked hard to give me an experience I'd remember, and Carlos took me on the most amazing snorkeling trip I've ever had. I've snorkeled in many places around the world, and this one really stood out. Thank you, Louisa and Carlos. The owners, Larry and Linda Forseth, shared their experiences in Honduras and taught me about the area and the needs of the community they love. I saw their kindness and generosity extending beyond me, and I'm grateful for all of it. I hope I can come back soon. Mornings were lovely, with birdsong and fresh Honduran coffee. My air-conditioned suite was comfortable, the bed made me feel like a queen, and it was only about 50 steps through the gardens to the beach. The water was warm, clear, and pristine. The beach was wonderfully clean, and getting into the sea made morning water aerobics feel like a treat. I also enjoyed the breakfast choices, especially the smoothies, fresh fruit, and homemade yogurt. I took out the good-quality paddle board and kayaks to explore the shallow, crystal-clear shoreline. When the sun got hot, the tiki hut was a welcome shady spot for a cool, special drink. The rescue animals were a delight, and it was clear they were being well cared for. I miss Sophie and Chimmy. This was a special trip, and I'll always be grateful for such a memorable stay at Tranquility Bay.
