We probably wouldn’t stay here again. The rooms barely block sound, and people going to and from the bars woke us every night between midnight and 2 am. Trash heavily polluted the reef outside the bar, so we didn’t snorkel. Breakfast took nearly an hour to arrive each day, and both dive shop boats stopped working, so we couldn’t scuba dive on our second day. There were some good points: the dive shop crew was great, the front desk were very helpful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable.

The view from above the water is beautiful, and the island has gorgeous coral reefs all over. The staff were very friendly and the food was amazing. Alejandro has created a lot of great dishes and really perfected fried fish. Jency, Eric, and Yvette made us feel very welcome. The dive staff, Halard, Grace, and Salsa (José), were skilled, friendly, and attentive.

I haven’t stayed overnight, but I often come to the resort for the bar, restaurant, snorkeling, and live events. The grounds are kept up well, and staff respond quickly. I also took a 200-hour yoga teacher course in the upstairs air-conditioned meeting room. It worked well for our small group of about 15-20, with coffee and breakfast available in the morning. The food has become a favorite since the new chef started. I especially like the mussels, fish burger, and cowboy steak. The bar deck looks straight onto the reef, with easy access to the coral wall for diving and some of the best shore snorkeling in Utila. There’s a long pool, loungers and daybeds, plus three big over-water net hammocks.

The dive boat is big, steady, and easy to move around on or get in and out of. Staff were great, and they had good rental gear ready for an early evening dive right off the dock. There’s also a fun little tiki hut bar at the end of the dock. Go check it out.

We’ve already started planning another trip to Coral View BR for more diving and certifications. Jorge has over 7,000 dives, so I felt in very knowledgeable hands when he took us out. He was also great on land, sharing plenty of useful tips about Utila and making time to chat while handling all the usual work of running the property, restaurant, bar, and pool. The rest of the staff looked after us too: Ramon, Jose, May, Jessica, and Lilly were all lovely. From the first WhatsApp message two months before we arrived until we left, Jorge made a huge effort to help us have a good stay. We chose Coral View for its island and reef location, and it delivered. We spent two weeks there. I completed my rescue diver course, and my girlfriend did her open water course. By chance, both were one-on-one, and Baley and Gioia were terrific instructors. The dive equipment, boat, and professionalism were all top notch. Captain Halard took great care of us aboard and went out of his way to help us off the boat as well. We did lots of self-guided snorkeling, and the reef in front of the reef bar was one of our favorites. The steps made night snorkeling easy. We also borrowed their snorkel gear, which was better than ours, and used the kayaks to reach the north side, explore farther down the coast, head out toward the open ocean, and take sunset trips through the mangroves. Having kayaks really helped us see more of the island. The hotel is charming, well built, spotless, and well maintained. The beds, pillows, air conditioning, towels, and other room basics met or beat what we expected at that price. Food and drinks were great too. After a long snorkel, the fish and curly fries hit the spot, and we found their daily cocktail special was the best on the island. The beautiful saltwater pool kept drawing us back.
