The setting is beautiful, but the hotel itself is very old and badly needs some care. The online photos do show its age, but at this price I still didn’t expect a room with AC that didn’t work, a broken shower head, almost no power sockets, and a mattress only about 10 cm thick.

The location and view are beautiful, and the man at reception was super nice and helpful, five stars for him. We only had dinner, which was included in the room price. It was fine, nothing special. The room had a slightly funky, stale, old smell, although the bathroom and everything else appeared pretty clean. The bed was uncomfortable and sloped toward the floor, and mosquitoes kept bothering us all night. The Hoppe door handles, from a popular German company, came off in my hand when I closed the front door. If you’re in a clinch, try Hotel Maxim for a few Euros more, or bring bug spray.

The service was great, and my room had a beautiful view of the sea. It was very clean, but could use some renovation. It looks a little spartan, like it’s from last century. The room door has old keys, there’s no safe in the room, only at reception, and there’s no Wi-Fi.
