We booked and fully paid for nine nights in August, and nobody mentioned any problem while we were making the reservation. Now Expedia has emailed to say the hotel cancelled because it “will no longer be open during the travel dates.” If they knew they’d be closed then, why let people book those dates in the first place? I’m really disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re prepared for the hassle of finding and paying for another hotel.

Our hosts made us feel welcome right away, with beer, wine, and freshly baked apple and cherry strudel. They were warm, attentive, very hospitable, and both spoke excellent German ♡. We had a fantastic stay and highly recommend it. We’ll definitely come back, by car or plane. The first-floor apartment was a delight for our two-night stay. There’s plenty of room, including a large living room, three double bedrooms, and four bathrooms. Everything was very well kept, with lots of storage, shelves, and thoughtful touches. Each room has its own air conditioning control. We also had Wi-Fi, a washing machine and detergent, and two hand towels and two bath towels per person. Outside, there’s a balcony with a clothesline and clothespins, a pool, and parking in front of the building. You need a key for the main entrance, and there’s a handy key safe outside the apartment door. The kitchen was especially well supplied: an induction cooktop, microwave, oven, fridge-freezer, dishwasher with tablets, pots and pans, a filter coffee machine, plus a sponge and dish soap. It’s very quiet up on the hill, with a sea view. The walk to the beach in Cavtat takes 20-30 minutes, which is the main drawback. You can rent bikes in Cavtat, which I highly recommend, or drive and pay to use the large parking lot there. The beach was very clean, with plenty of places to swim off the rocks, lots of shade, and good areas for diving and playing. There are paid sun loungers and a restaurant, but very few showers. Toilets are only available by the paid loungers. You can take a boat to Dubrovnik for €16-20. Boats leave every half hour, with lots of operators. Montenegro is about an hour away by car, though border waits can take longer depending on the customs officers’ mood. Make sure you have your vehicle registration. It’s definitely worth a visit if you have the time.
