Remisens Hotel Epidaurus

The kids’ room felt unsafe: it was very dirty and damp, smelled of mold, and water leaked from the ceiling on a rainy day. The pools were tiny and unsupervised, and the “beach” was just a narrow strip of concrete. For nearly €2000 for a week for 2 people and one 2 years old baby, this was extremely disappointing. Apart from the location, I can’t think of anything positive. I don’t understand how this place got 3 stars; it barely deserves one. We arrived at 9 a.m. with our 2-year-old, and while I understand rooms aren’t available until 3 p.m., there was no welcome at all. Nobody offered water or coffee or a place to wait. When we asked where to change the baby, we were basically told to “figure it out,” so I changed her in the lobby. The supposedly renovated room was a disaster. There was no soundproofing, and we heard the neighbors through the walls and every sound in the corridor. The bathroom wasn’t properly cleaned, our sheets weren’t changed during our 7-day stay, ants invaded, and the duvets smelled like dirty socks. The old buildings are poorly maintained and disgusting. The all-inclusive drinks were undrinkable. Food was sometimes salty, repetitive and lacking variety, and the buffet was badly organized. Staff rarely smiled. Activities weren’t displayed, and even reception didn’t know what was on.

The views are stunning, the pools were lovely, and the location is fantastic. The hotel was really clean, and the staff were friendly, especially in the shop and kids’ club. My daughter loved spending time with the lovely kids’ club staff. The drawbacks were the horrible all-inclusive drinks, including the soft drinks, and all the entertainment was in French. If you’re English and evening entertainment matters to you, this probably isn’t the place.

We unexpectedly needed a hotel for one night after our flight was cancelled, and it turned out to be just what we needed. It’s very close to the airport, but the beautiful, accessible beach made it feel like a little paradise. We walked around the area and enjoyed the sun and sunset from the hotel’s beach chairs. The all-inclusive setup, with bars inside and outside, was nice, though the food could have been better.

I asked reception to get a taxi to Mlini and was told, “No problem, just 10 minutes!” It did arrive after 10 minutes, but the driver drove like a maniac and charged 30 EUR, cash only, with no receipt. I arranged a ride back to Epidaurus myself: a nice driver, 11 EUR by card, and I got a receipt. SCAM by Epidaurus!!
