Villa Zupan

We had a wonderful holiday in Croatia. The cottage is in a quiet spot with almost no traffic, and it’s quite central in Istria. It takes a little under an hour to drive to the southernmost point, which felt very manageable. Martina was always available for questions and shared some good places to visit. She was there to greet us when we arrived, with fresh vegetables and wine from her own vineyard and garden. The swimming pool is beautiful, though unheated, which we didn’t find necessary. There are plenty of loungers and a lounge area, and the interior is very modern. It worked perfectly for two families. Downstairs there are two bedrooms, a bathroom and a huge playroom for the children, which was fantastic. Upstairs has two more bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large open kitchen and a living room. There’s also a BBQ. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

We came in autumn and wished we’d had more time. The region was a lovely surprise, with so much to explore between the coast and countryside, from charming hilltop villages to wild beaches. The small village setting is peaceful and feels authentic, and the view over the vineyards at sunset is magnificent. The pool would be a real bonus in summer. The villa is enormous and superb. Everything was spotless, the rooms were tastefully decorated, the kitchen was practical and very well equipped, and the bright bedrooms were comfortable. Martina lives next door with her charming family. They were there if we needed anything but stayed discreet, and even shared some of their own produce and homemade wine. Such a kind gesture. We had absolutely nothing to complain about and would happily return to this part of Croatia.

The evenings and nights were especially pleasant, thanks to the natural surroundings and the comfortable outdoor climate. The hosts were ready to help whenever needed while remaining discreet. The house is well worth recommending: it has a great kitchen with more than enough equipment, spacious comfortable bedrooms, a perfect pool and a very handy terrace.

Martina and her family made us feel very welcome and gave us space, too. The house and grounds were in top condition, just like the photos, and immaculately clean. The kitchen had everything we needed. We’d gladly come back anytime.
