Adriatic Apartments

The toilet seat and shower handle were broken, the bathroom sink was clogged, and the safe key was broken too. At check-in we were in a hurry to get out and explore, so we hadn't noticed all the problems. We did tell the receptionist about the key and toilet seat. She casually said a maintenance guy was coming to fix things in Adriatic apartments and could look at ours too. My mother and I had paid our hard-earned money for this below-average apartment above a department store, and it was non-refundable. Why would we risk that and leave or check out the next day? We raised some of the issues in broad daylight, but when we asked about a refund, the host turned on us and blamed us for everything. It was way below the belt. We moved to Hotel Valamar Lacroma afterwards and had a phenomenal time. Budget places can have problems, and everyone makes mistakes, but refusing to own up to them and then pinning them on guests is ridiculous. Croatia and its people are beautiful, generally speaking, but we had bad experiences in just two places: Plitvice green valley lodge, because one disrespectful host, Haris, was immature and mannerless, and Adriatic Apartments, where host Goran played it below the belt. They seemed full of ego, living frustrated lives with fake pride. Sad, really sad. We were just two women alone, and they didn't care one bit.
