Old Town is nearby and the place has the basics, but that didn't make up for how uncomfortable this stay was. My friend and I booked four nights, and we knew we'd face 80 stairs to reach the unit. We weren't prepared for everything else. There was no check-in guidance when we arrived in the evening. The keypad was broken, and after going up and down the stairs trying the code, a stranger with a flashlight finally spotted the key box to the right of the gate. The glass front door gave us no privacy, and birds kept hitting it. They weren't killed, but they thumped into the glass. The bedroom door has slats, and the shutters couldn't actually be closed, so that room wasn't private either. The shower only has a handheld head, leaving you to spray your legs, shut the water off, or shampoo with one hand. Mosquitoes were all over the unit. Repellent was provided, but my friend and I were still getting bitten in our sleep. We contacted the host and got no reply. The stated policy says replies can take up to 15 business days, even though our stay was five days. Our credit card company also contacted the host. The customer service representative described her as quite rude; she refused a refund and said mosquitoes are everywhere. If you're short, getting dishes means climbing on a flimsy IKEA chair. It's not a terrible option if you have nowhere else to stay, but the manager seemed not to care. Given how close it is to Old Town, they can probably bring in money without much effort. Service and comfort don't seem to be their strengths.
