The apartment has several problems, and the price felt way out of proportion. It's old and hasn't been renovated; the mattresses sag and are uncomfortable, there's only one outdated bathroom, and no microwave. One bedroom had no inside doorknob, so we got locked in until a friend opened the door. It's on the first floor with no lift, and check-in took ages. Getting there was difficult too. The man who met us hadn't expected us, spoke broken English, and was rude and confused about why we were there. He called us three times before finally letting us upstairs. He lives in the building and got involved in things like whether we left the air conditioning on or raised and lowered the awnings. Free parking was advertised, but he first refused to let us park and said the street was fine, even though it's a two-way street barely wide enough for one car. There was also a neighbor's note asking us not to park there. Only after that did he reluctantly allow us to use the parking. The place is over a half-hour walk from the center, with lots of hills, so we had to use the car each day and pay around €6 an hour to park downtown.
