Simple but lovely. The centre’s only a short walk away, the bed was comfortable, and the shower got nice and hot. There was a kettle too, perfect for that essential first cuppa.

The bathroom was good, and the street was quiet, but the room felt cramped for two. Although it’s near the old town, it’s about 200 metres higher up, so getting there means climbing a seemingly endless flight of stairs. If you’re carrying a lot of luggage, forget it.

We stayed in the lower apartment, which was small but nice, with air conditioning that we really needed in the heat, a little kitchen and fridge, and a patio where we had breakfast. The owner was super nice: he offered us cold beer when we arrived and drove us to the airport for a cheap fee. The place is close to the wall and a nice stone beach. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the centre, and 20 minutes coming back because of all the stairs. These are privately owned apartments, and I’d really recommend staying here.

The location worked well for us: close to the historic centre but far enough from the bustle, apart from the 1000 stairs you have to climb. The apartment wasn’t completely clean, and there were a few ants.
