Dubrovnik is extraordinarily beautiful, down in southern Croatia on the Mediterranean. The Old Town has a stone wall built to protect the city in ancient times, and inside there are churches, monuments and restaurants to see. Be ready for lots of steps to climb.

People in Croatia were generally friendly and helpful, though I did come across a few restaurants and shops in the Old Town that seemed scammy, so watch out. Dubrovnik also makes a good base for day trips to Bosnia and Montenegro. The city is definitely worth a visit, but it gets very touristy, with crowds and high prices. For example, meals start at about €15 per person, before drinks. In April or September and October, some attractions may be closed, and it can be too chilly for much swimming, so I’d keep a visit to those shoulder months to three or four days at most. I’d also avoid eating in the Old Town too often. Prices there are high and the food is average, while there are plenty of better-value places with better food outside it.

The sea is beautiful and the city walls are great. Parking costs a lot, and so does everything else, lol, but there are plenty of reasons to visit.
