Buza House

A disgusting, terrible place. The owner’s wife was extremely rude and dishonest. When I arrived, the owner said I could wait in any room until mine was ready. I was using the toilet when his wife came in shouting at me to leave. They gave me the wrong room, not the one I’d booked. She also told her husband, who never came, that I had been swearing, which wasn’t true. I cancelled and found another hotel. Awful people.

The room was spacious and the location was great, but we had a rough stay. There was no water for about three hours on the first morning. On the second morning I told the owner about bed bugs, a broken iron, and a mirror so dirty I could barely see myself. He said he’d come around midday, then changed that to 5pm. He never showed up. On our third night, we were woken twice: first by men talking loudly and someone trying a key in our door, then by a man outside banging hard on the external door and shouting. It stopped only after a neighbour threatened to call the police.

The old town location was the one good thing. The photos are outdated, the kitchenette was falling apart, the shower wouldn’t drain, and there were bedbugs. We found them after a short nap, thankfully before spending the night there. We managed to find somewhere else at the last minute and left. The host reported us as no-shows, so we can’t review the place on the booking site and probably won’t get a refund.

I’m well travelled and have stayed in many kinds of accommodation, but my three-night booking here was extremely disappointing. I’d reserved the “Deluxe Queen Room” after researching online. On arrival, they said it wasn’t available because there was no power, and promised I could move into it the next day. I followed up, but was ignored, and the room was given to someone else. I got no reimbursement for the price difference after being downgraded. The room they put me in was barely big enough for a bunk bed and was crumbling. The window hung from one hinge, nails were exposed in parts of the walls, and the door barely locked. It could easily have been pushed open because the lock had so little support. There was no bathroom in the room, so I had to share one outside with four strange men. It was filthy, covered in black mould, and felt unsafe. The B and B was hard to find because there was hardly any signage, and customer service was very poor. Breakfast wasn’t provided, despite being advertised. I’m also covered from head to toe in bed bug bites. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, especially solo female travellers or anyone who wants to avoid bed bugs. Stay elsewhere, there are plenty of other places in this beautiful town.
