The top apartment worked really well for my family: two bedrooms, a small kitchen and bathroom, and it was comfy. The landlady even let us use her washing machine, then folded our clothes and brought them back when dry. Having AC in the bedrooms was essential after hot days out. Just know the apartments are inside someone's house, so you walk through the kitchen and lounge to reach yours. That was a bit of a shock at first. It's outside the city walls, with good and bad sides. You can take a taxi from the bus stop outside Pile gate up to the apartment, which helps when you're carrying bags. There are so many steps, and inside the walls no motorized transport is allowed. We got plenty of exercise on the stairs, but with luggage, I'd pay for the taxi. Younger, stronger travelers can walk up with their bags. The beach is about a 12-minute walk downhill. It's a busy, rocky-pebble beach, not proper sand, but the water looks so good that you have to try it, and it really is nice. One last hassle: they don't accept credit cards, so I had to walk all the way down the steps to an ATM and then back up. I'm very tired of those stairs! Still, we had a good stay.
