We found the location peaceful and outside the congested area, but still close to the Old Town. The bus stop is right outside the house, which was handy. The apartment in the historic house was beautiful, and the lady of the house was friendly and helpful. It was a comfortable place to rest after a day of sightseeing.

House Boninovo worked well for us as simple travelers, with a great base between Port Gruz and Old Town Port. The location is away from the busiest tourist areas but still walkable or easy by city bus. Just around the corner on Pera Čingrije street, Otto is a good pick for cheap, delicious food. There's also a pharmacy and a nice park nearby. We stayed four nights. We walked from the official shuttle bus drop-off in Old City because we wanted to save a few Euros, but I wouldn't recommend doing that with suitcases. My hiking bag and carry-on were manageable, though rolling the case along crowded, narrow sidewalks was still annoying. A taxi or Uber is another option. Lidija was an incredible host. She messaged the day before check-in to ask when we'd arrive so the room would be ready, greeted us warmly, carried one of our bags, and showed us in. She paid attention to whether guests were comfortable and helped with needs or issues. There are stairs and no elevator. Her dog Arraya (spelling) is usually on the terrace, but might greet you at the door. She's the sweetest, softest, maybe the best dog in Dubrovnik. Room 202 sits at the top of the first set of stairs. It was spacious for one and had enough room for two, with storage for a hiking backpack, a regular backpack, a carry-on, and a checked bag. We didn't hear people arriving or leaving late at night. The guests we saw were mostly 50 years old and plus. Each room has its own color theme, which I really liked, and the things in the room matched it. There was a tea tray on the mini-fridge with green, English breakfast, lemon and ginger, and other teas, plus an electric kettle, two coffee cups, a sugar canister, instant coffee packets I wouldn't recommend, and two hazelnut wafers. There was also a sweet tray on a glass table by the chairs, and a cabinet for clothes or luggage. A downside was having just one outlet behind the glass table to charge all our devices. It was a bit annoying, though it did keep us from doomscrolling before bed. The air conditioner is strong; ours was set to 20c / 70f at night. The bed was flat and stiff, and when my partner tossed and turned it felt like he was flopping around like a fish out of water. It could use a topper or upgrade. The bathroom was cute and had cabinets for toiletries, with plenty of body towels but no washcloths or hand towels. The shower was my main enemy. I'm 5'2 and 115 pounds, unsure of the metric equivalent, and it felt cramped. When I bent down, my bum would hit the hot shower knob and sometimes turn the water off. Shampoo and conditioner were supplied, but not body wash, so I used soap I'd brought from earlier travels. There was only one tiny bathroom trash can for the whole room, not ideal for a longer stay if you eat breakfast in or snack late. We used a produce bag as a makeshift liner; a larger bin would help. The room was clean, but being at the top of the stairs meant some bugs came in through the hotel's main doors, which stay open nearly all day and night. We saw only two ants and two spiders.

We spent four nights here and really enjoyed it. The house is beautiful, the host was lovely and helped us a lot, and the location was convenient for the old town and some beaches. The city center is a walk or bus ride away. We especially liked sitting in the patio with coffee, and the breakfast was very, very good. Rea, their really cute and friendly dog, was a delight. We'd highly recommend staying here and enjoying your time.

A lovely stay, with clean, cozy rooms and kind, helpful hosts. The bus stop is right next door, and the old town is about a 20 minute walk away. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're in Dubrovnik.

The old villa feels authentic while still being comfortable and clean. The host was warm and ready to help with whatever we needed, and there's a tiny, cute dog downstairs. Parking is right in front of the house. It's close enough for a short walk to the center, but far enough away for quiet nights without the city's noise and music. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend it 10/10.
