Ragusa City Walls Apartments

For what we paid, the place was very good, and the old town is only about a seven-minute walk away. Cleaning could be better: the sheets didn’t feel very clean, and there was hair in the toilet. There’s no elevator, so expect to carry luggage upstairs. A refrigerator, table, chairs, and closet are provided, but the furniture makes the room feel even smaller. There’s only space to open one suitcase, and a second one won’t fit. Parking is expensive at 43 euros a day and requires an uphill walk. There’s another lot nearby at 6 euros an hour. Dubrovnik is an expensive city, though.

I was happy with the apartment’s condition and its spot near the old town, even though it’s really compact. The shower leaks onto the floor, so it stays wet, and there’s no elevator, just stairs. We stayed four days and three nights, and were told we couldn’t get fresh towels or sheets until day four. Checkout was at 10 a.m.; when we asked to stay a little longer because our flight was at noon, they said no. They did let us leave our luggage in the reception hall until we needed it.

It’s very expensive, though I guess the whole city is. The room is small, with a basic, tiny kitchen that has almost nothing, so cooking was difficult. The bathroom and shower are nice. There’s no parking unless you’re willing to pay 100 euros a day at the lot next door, and I’d recommend Uber for airport transport since it’s faster and costs the same as the bus. The cable car is right there, with a restaurant and food shop nearby, and the old city entrance is close. There are stairs in the building and no elevator, so we left our baby stroller downstairs. Noise carries when people go up or down, and some guests accidentally tried to enter our room. All the locks use codes.

The apartment was recently refurbished and felt fresh and very clean. It’s a great base for visiting Dubrovnik, though I wouldn’t choose it for a longer stay because there’s little storage for clothes and other things. For a short visit, it’s perfect.
