Stari Grad Boutique-Hotel

We arranged the private airport pickup, which included having our luggage delivered to the room, and it worked really well for us. The staff were super friendly, and dinner at Above 5 Rooftop restaurant was fantastic, both the food and the service. We had the rooftop suite, which was spacious, beautiful and comfortable. The hotel’s location in the Old Town was perfect. We loved our stay and would definitely return and recommend it.

A heads-up about the location: the hotel is inside the Old City walls, so cars can’t reach the front door. You’ll walk a couple hundred metres through the old city gate, which could be awkward with a lot of heavy luggage. There’s no elevator because the Old City is a UNESCO site, though the staff will carry your bags upstairs. The hotel also owns the great Thai massage place across the street. Our best meal during three weeks in Europe was at the outstanding rooftop restaurant, with an amazing view while you eat. It’s a fantastic little boutique hotel, and the staff were awesome.

The rooftop breakfast came with a spectacular, unusual view and excellent service, but $150.00 for two bowls of yogurt with fruit, avocado toast and three coffees seemed extreme. The hotel had advertised valet parking, which mattered because my sister and brother-in-law are both in their 70s and don’t walk well. Six days before we arrived, though, we were told the city would no longer allow private vehicles into the Old Town. Our contract allowed cancellation up to seven days ahead, so that option had passed. We had to park at the Hilton Imperial and haul our suitcases to the hotel through the crowds in Dubrovnik. I highly recommend the Hilton Imperial for good parking.

The restaurant is spectacular, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms run a little small, but they’re well equipped, with great air conditioning and l’occitane bathroom products. The location is ideal. Highly recommend.
