Victoria Guesthouse

The Old City is around a 25-minute walk from the guesthouse, and in warm weather that walk can be pretty gruelling. The #8 Bus runs regularly from nearby if you'd rather take it. Our room was spacious, very clean, air-conditioned, and reasonably priced, with a balcony looking over part of the city. The lovely couple who own the place even drove us to the bus station when we left.

The balcony has great views, and our room was tidy and clean. The hosts were fabulous too. Just be prepared for the hill if you're carrying suitcases. Our only real drawback was that the private bathroom was next door instead of connected to the room, though it was incredibly modern and clean, so it wasn't much of a problem. We really enjoyed staying at Guesthouse Victoria.

Anna is lively, and this is a lovely guesthouse for the price. Old town is about a 25-minute walk away, or you can catch the number 8 bus to and from the guest house, with the stop just down the stairs. There's also a grocery store and an atm down the street. It was a great choice for my first visit to Dubrovnik.

The owners are really lovely and the guesthouse is friendly. My small, very subjective quibbles: it's a little out of town and up a hill, which isn't ideal for someone as lazy as me. The bathroom was just for us but off the corridor, and I'd have preferred an en-suite. Teabags and showergel would have been nice, and the pillows were excessively thick for me.
