Restaurant service needs to improve. The staff can be rude and seem to avoid doing their work, even though the prices are higher and you’d expect much better service and kindness. Waiting more than 30 minutes just to be served isn’t a nice or normal dining experience.

We keep returning with the family, and have done so on and off for 25 years. The food and atmosphere have always been good. There’s wild boar, deer, and even bear on the menu, so there’s game for different tastes.

The food was okay, but we were surprised at the end by extra charges: the bread served as an appetizer wasn’t included, and the waiter made the salad bar sound included too, then charged 5 euros per portion. Other restaurants serve very good food without surprises like this. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The hotel and restaurant are in a great location, and the restaurant itself feels really cozy. We had very good traditional Croatian food there.

The blueberry strudel at Bitoraj was great, with real blueberry flavor rather than what tastes like store-bought jam. We stopped in Fužine on the way home from Zagreb because I was craving something sweet and had heard people talk about it. The place has a cozy, rural feel, and our waitress was kind. I’d like to visit Bitoraj again.
