Hotel Macola

I can't recommend staying here overnight. The area around Korenica has lovely nature, including mountains and lakes, but my experience at this hotel left me uneasy. Twice I was handed keys to rooms that were dirty. I also have concerns about safety. On January 5, 2024, a representative of the administration told me that a person who openly films someone threatening them, after giving a warning, should be imprisoned for making that video. I can't say whether the hotel's view matches this country's law. Human rights activists and lawyers can look into that. My own view is that if you're barred from openly recording someone threatening to attack you, filming after an attack would be too late, and it's better not to spend the night in a place where this is the position. If bandits threaten you, I don't believe you have protection from them. They could tell the police that you were the one who threatened them. I see prohibitions on filming as intended for people who secretly put hidden cameras in hotel bathrooms or toilets and sell the footage online. Those are the “businessmen” who should be punished. But openly recording dangerous or illegal actions to stop or prevent them can help society. If a country bans openly filming threats and illegal acts, that benefits criminals, thieves, and corrupt officials. What is unclear here? I share these views as my personal opinion based on facts, and would consider any persecution over them a violation of freedom of speech. The one group I would recommend staying here is researchers from international organizations studying how wars affect later generations. One of the Yugoslav conflicts began in this area. For anyone unfamiliar with the term, the Yugoslav conflicts were wars involving ethnic cleansing and massacres of civilians, women, and children. The effects on people 30 years later still need to be explored. This recommendation is only for official researchers accompanied by security guards and lawyers.
