The quiet setting is a real draw. The sea is clear and calm, and you can swim on your own without the usual crowds. The property and the piers leading down to the water are beautiful. The owners are kind and willing to help, but they speak only Croatian, so communicating with them was extremely difficult. Our biggest problem was Apartment 1, the one with the red kitchen. It is listed as an apartment on the website, but it’s really just a small room and bathroom connected to another apartment. A locked door with tape over the keyhole is supposed to give you privacy, but you can hear everything next door, as though you’re sharing a home with that family. Most mornings we woke at 7:30 from even small sounds or conversation. During the first few days, a washing machine also woke us. We reported that through Booking.com, and after that it was only run in the evenings. The room has air conditioning, though the unit hangs low and blows straight at the bed. We had to pull the blackout curtain across the door to shield ourselves from the airflow, which left the morning light coming through the glass door unblocked. The kitchen is roomy and well equipped, and it’s in a separate room across the terrace. There’s no air conditioning there. In the afternoon, sunlight made it reach as much as 40°C. It was very hot to cook, so a fan and maybe a canopy or awning would help. A cleaning rag and potholders would be useful too. The listing mentions a living or dining room, but there isn’t one. There’s a small terrace with a table and chairs for our use, though it’s shared with people staying in another apartment. It got unbearably hot, and rain would have reached us despite the roof being mostly covered. Wi-Fi is said to cover the whole property, but we couldn’t even get it on our terrace. To connect, we had to use the lower terrace in front of the owners’ house. Since we needed internet for work, the agency managing the property gave us a partial refund after we contacted them. The bathroom is small but usable, and the shower was comfortable. The sink, though, was too small for washing our hands properly, let alone our faces. When we arrived, the parking space was blocked by a camper belonging to friends or tourists. It was freed up two days later. Until then, parking meant risking collisions, as happened to us in the first few days.
