Boutique Hotel Alhambra

The sunset cruise and an evening of high class jazz on the terrace made our stay especially memorable, and the hotel program was lovely. Alhambra sits in a beautiful spot on the Adriatic with stunning views. The food was truly star quality, and the staff were friendly and attentive. A perfect coastal getaway, highly recommended. ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

The sea is close by and crystal clear, perfect for a refreshing swim. Boutique Hotel Alhambra has a wonderfully quiet setting, so it’s easy to unwind there. The food was fantastic, every dish prepared to a very high standard. It’s an elegant, peaceful escape with nature, luxury, and great cuisine.

The Saturday hike around the island with the hotel’s General Manager, Lovorka, was a memorable experience and deserves a special recommendation. Monika at reception also made a big difference. She was warm, confident, attentive, and so kind, and I felt looked after from the moment I arrived. Hotel Alhambra was perfect in every way: a stunning property, exceptional food, and top-notch service. The management and whole team were warm and professional. A heartfelt thank you to everyone, I can’t wait to return.

The breakfast staff were lovely and helpful, and I’m grateful they made our stay somewhat tolerable. A special mention too for the German chef, who seemed genuinely nice. Those were the few positives in what became a very upsetting visit. We had been regular guests for years and had recommended the hotel to family, who stayed there too. Under the former manager, it felt like paradise. Since the new manager took over, we found the place unfriendly and poorly run, with service that didn’t feel worthy of even two stars. The manager was EXTREMELY rude in our experience. After staying at luxury places around the world, I had never had a manager walk away while we were in the middle of trying to resolve an issue. We brought our miniature poodle after being assured on the phone that the hotel was pet-friendly. On arrival, we were told small dogs weren’t allowed anywhere in the hotel and had to stay in the room all day. The manager even threatened to evict our family of five if we didn’t follow the rules. When we pointed out that we’d been given incorrect information while booking, the manager said, “the past is the past and there is no point in talking about it”. It was especially ironic that, while we faced threats and such awful treatment, we saw other guests bring dogs to the beach every day, including one about the size of a German shepherd. The beach was badly understaffed. In our first week, just two employees were covering umbrellas, serving as waiters, and bartending. They worked hard and were friendly, but were clearly stretched too far. One looked close to fainting from the heat and exhaustion, and some of us were genuinely concerned for his health. Beach tables also went uncleared, leaving old plates and food behind. That wasn’t the staff’s fault, but management’s failure to assign someone to keep the area tidy. For anyone with allergies, they use pasta straws for all beach drinks, which affects the taste and could pose a risk. Alcoholic drinks were seriously watered down. When ordering wine, expect something more like half a unit than one. Our laundry came back smelling strongly of harsh chemicals. I don’t know what products they use, but the odor was extremely unpleasant. We couldn’t wait to leave and ended the stay early. We didn’t want to keep paying someone who showed so little respect or customer service. We once loved this place, but now it feels ruined and badly managed. It’s a shock that will take a while to get over.
