Villa Kredo

The fish-filled water was lovely for swimming, and afterward we could nap on our own terrace under the palm trees. This beautiful old villa has a private terrace just 20m from Silver Bay beach. We tried Cikat for one evening, then spent the rest of our time at the Villa in Silver Bay. The restaurant downstairs serves tasty breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Having a meal there while watching the sunset is something I won't forget. If you're after the Croatian “Fjaka”, this feels like the right place.

The location is great, but I wouldn't book this hotel again. You could enjoy the area for much less by staying in a tent at the campground around it. The cleaning staff were very kind and did a really good job. The working staff were nice too, though the management seemed unwilling to invest in improving the experience. It felt like the hotel hadn't been updated in years and was trying to spend as little as possible while charging four-star prices. It definitely doesn't feel like a four-star hotel. We waited more than half an hour at reception just to pay, with nowhere to sit. Reception was meant to be open from 8-21, but nobody ever seemed to be there. Breakfast came with the room, and was a small buffet in the restaurant next door. The food sat out in the heat for three hours. There was enough choice, but it wasn't four-star quality, and the rules kept changing. On the first day the waiter said we could ask for anything missing from the buffet, so we got a very good vegetable omelette and could order drinks like coffee too. The next day I was told only buffet items were included. When I asked for orange juice, they said it wasn't included because it wasn't on the table. A few days later I tried to order the Caffe latte I'd been having each morning, and was told I couldn't that day and had to use the machine instead. It left me feeling like hotel guests were a nuisance and the aim was to spend as little as possible. Our superior room was labelled for four people, but the double bed felt about 40 years old and the sofa bed was so hard even my small children complained. The room felt like a bunker: its two windows were positioned so little light got in. The bathroom smelled strongly of mold, and you could see it too. The hotel management didn't seem to be doing much to improve any of this.

The Villa is only about 20m from the sea, with a lovely restaurant next door offering sea views and rentals for boats, sups, bikes, and more. Though there's a camping area nearby, the beach wasn't crowded. The Villa is surrounded by conifers and palms, with plenty of shade to keep it from getting too hot during the day. They clean the rooms and replace towels every day, and the service is amazing. Great value for the money. Highly recommend!

There's a horrible smell in the rooms, and hardly any space. For four people, the entire room has just one window. Save your money, you'd be better off sleeping on the beach.
