Apartments Nena

The road in and the parking were bad, and the apartment looked much worse than in the photos. An older woman who couldn’t speak English checked us in. As soon as we entered, the damp and musty smell was a shock. There were insects, spiders and cobwebs on the walls, and the place was messy. The bathroom hadn’t been disinfected and still had traces left by previous guests, so we had to clean everything ourselves. The wardrobe was the worst part of the furnishings and couldn’t be used. We tried to resolve the problems with the owners, but got nowhere. They wouldn’t admit there was a problem and said everything was fine. They showed absolutely no interest in their guest. I really don’t recommend this experience.

The hosts were friendly and helpful. We accidentally went to the wrong address late at night, but the host kindly let us into the apartment after check-in hours. Thanks for that. They showed us how everything worked. We stayed in Villa Nena in a sea-facing apartment. It was lovely inside and out, with breakfast on the balcony and evening views of the scenery and planes. There’s an airport across the sea. Deep sleepers won’t be disturbed, but light sleepers may want earplugs since the muffled noise carries across the water. The apartment had a working air heat pump, stove, kettle, coffee maker, TV, small freezer, fridge, cooking utensils and towels. The shower and toilet were modern. The bed was large, with a large duvet cover, but no duvet. You could put a blanket inside the sheet. Towels and sheets weren’t changed during the week, and there wasn’t enough toilet paper, though I’m sure they’d take care of it if you asked. There’s enough to see for a few days, but not a week’s worth of activities, and the location is quite remote, so I recommend renting a car. The shop is about 200-300m away and has everything you need. There’s also a restaurant and a good beach nearby. The apartment is on a mountainside with a really steep hill. The streets are very narrow, even for one car, but there’s room to turn around in the yard.

The villa sits on a hill, so getting there means a steep climb. The payoff is a beautiful view of the sea. We had a renovated apartment with newer furniture and a nice terrace, where we could sit under the fig trees.

The place was clean and matched its description, and we were greeted warmly. We could also speak German. Just take care on the approach, since the driveway and road are a little narrow.
