Apartments Riva

The biggest issue for us was the noise from the restaurant below. A machine there, maybe a compressor, made a drilling-like sound from opening time in the morning until closing, around 2:30 a.m. The apartment was also right on the promenade near a nightclub, so the party noise carried on every night. The other drawbacks were practical ones. The small bathroom water heater ran out before three people could shower, leaving the last person with cold water. The internet came through a SIM card and became unusable in the evenings when lots of people were online. There was air conditioning only in the living room, which stayed cool while the bedroom remained warm. This place didn't work well for our family, though some of those things may not bother everyone.

The parking is behind the house and took me a few minutes to locate, but I found it in under five minutes. The shower was broken, presumably by the previous guest, though they had it fixed within a day. Nice place overall, just a cramped little kitchen.

We really liked the balcony looking over the harbor, and the owners were so helpful. Evalina was our guardian angel on the trip. The apartment was clean and comfortable for four, with a kitchenette, private bathroom, and parking. You're right in the middle of Medulin's Riva, close to the old center and about 200 meters from Bijeca beach, a rare sandy beach in Croatia. There are plenty of places to go out nearby. Our first-floor apartment faced the outdoor seating areas, lovely to look at and try, though the traditional tourist food wasn't ideal if you also wanted to sleep. The air conditioning and double-glazed windows kept out some of the noise, but not all of it. I'd give it four stars.

The room was clean and ready early, and both the landlord and the cleaning lady were kind. We had a sea-view room, but it was on a low floor and we couldn't actually see the water. The bed creaked whenever we moved, waking us up, and the mattresses were uncomfortable, so we slept on the couch instead. The promenade noise was very loud. I managed to fall asleep, but it bothered my boyfriend. WiFi was advertised, though it barely worked, and the kitchen had neither an oven nor a microwave.
