We ended up making about 20 calls before finding an available hotel, and it cost twice as much as the room we’d expected to have. It was August, and the few places within an hour’s drive were already full. The whole thing was incredibly stressful. We’d booked by phone and were told the room was blocked for us, but when we arrived around 19:30, the man at the hotel acted as though he didn’t know why we were there, even though we’d spoken an hour earlier. He said someone had booked it through booking.com after our call. He also claimed he’d tried to call us on the way, but said he didn’t know our number, despite having spoken with us twice in the previous hour. He called one person, got no answer, then sent us to a tourist information office that was closed. If he had called as he said, we wouldn’t have driven all the way there and could have found a better alternative while saving a lot of time. After a mistake like that, I’d expect much more help and some self-reflection, especially when they knew how bad a situation we were in.

We brought our SUPs and could leave them on the beach, locked to the playground with a bike lock, so we didn’t have to carry them each day. That was no problem. Bikes wouldn’t have helped much anyway, since there are no bike paths and the roads are very busy. The beach is a five-minute walk, parking is right outside, and the breakfast buffet had everything you could want, with eggs made to order. Our room was beautiful and clean, and everyone was attentive and friendly. It’s a lovely little family-run hotel. We stayed four nights and had a really nice time, though that was enough for us.

The beaches are easy to reach, with two larger pebble stretches or cliffside spots with loungers, plus a separate area for dogs. The hotel itself is quiet but only a few minutes on foot from shops, restaurants, pharmacies, doctors, and the beach. It’s comfortable, very clean, air-conditioned, and has its own parking. The owner and staff were friendly, courteous, and helpful.
