Hotel Lero

The mattress and pillows were comfortable, and the hotel is in a good spot, just a short walk from the Old Town. It’s a busy place, especially around reception, and the breakfast buffet was only passable. The small elevators are slow, with just two on each side and room for four passengers apiece. Our room felt cramped, with space to unpack only one carry-on. The floor hadn’t been vacuumed thoroughly, and we found bits of cellophane and tissue paper. We could hear indistinct conversations through the thin walls. The bathroom was tight, with one sink and too little counter space, a cramped shower that drained poorly, and no ventilation for toilet odors. Some tiles were badly fitted, with grout missing or poorly finished. The HVAC controls worked adequately, but I needed a flashlight to read the panel. The hangers were inconvenient and theft-proof. It was acceptable for budget travelers, but I wouldn’t recommend it to guests looking for something more upscale.

We walked to the old town at an easy pace with our sniffing dog, and it took about 25 minutes. Dogs can stay in certain rooms for an extra 15 euros, though they aren’t allowed in the dining hall if you choose half board or breakfast. Dinner was good. Parking is included, but it can fill up even in winter. In February 2026 we got the last space, and a friendly attendant was there to help. The staff were very friendly, the room was good, and the shower had great pressure. Nespresso capsules were provided.

The breakfast really stood out, with plenty of fresh, high-quality choices, and the breakfast staff were especially friendly and attentive. Our room was comfortable and nicely equipped, with excellent shower pressure. We had a very positive stay in Dubrovnik and would gladly return. A warmer greeting from reception and a bit more friendliness from staff when passing in the corridors would have made the experience even better.

We enjoyed the gentle walk downhill to the old town, with some lovely coastal views along the way. The staff were friendly, and breakfast had a good range of options. We weren’t tempted by the dinner buffet at 30 euros per person, so we ate twice at the excellent Bosnian restaurant next door, Taj Mahal. The bathroom counter was crooked and hollow-sounding, and the shower door caulking was poor. Those details didn’t feel right for a 4-star hotel.
