The comfortable beds and charming bedrooms made for a lovely stay, and the house had lots of thoughtful extras: games, Croatian cookbooks, a Bluetooth speaker, aroma lamps with essential oils, and wine available at winery prices. The kitchen was especially well equipped, with a gas stove, coffee maker, oven, toaster, spices, oils and vinegar, fridge and freezer, blender and immersion blender, plus plenty of cookware, bowls, scales, and measuring cups. We felt like we were staying with friends in a quiet little green oasis. The owner first got in touch personally about a week before we left, then sent useful suggestions for restaurants, shopping, and other things to do, which got us looking forward to the trip. The farmhouse in Mgrani looked just like the photos, with its renovation, rustic furnishings, and small idyllic garden. Everything was clean and well maintained. A friend of the owners took care of check-in, and it was easy to communicate in English over WhatsApp. The owners were also available whenever we had questions. Mgrani has just 27 residents and a few holiday villas, so it’s a calm spot away from the regular tourist crowds. It also makes a good base for exploring Istria. There’s a bike path right by the house, and the Adriatic beaches are around 30-40 minutes away. The village sits right next to the highway, but we barely noticed the noise and could enjoy quiet evenings out in the garden. You can reach the motorway at Medaki or Kanfanar, both about a 10-15 minute drive. For shopping, the larger towns include Kanfanar and Sveti Lovrec. Konoba Mgrani 42 is a little gem for a meal, only about a three-minute walk away. We had a wonderful time in Mgrani and are sure we’ll return.
