Hotel Loža

The location may be prime, but the hotel felt neglected and uncomfortable, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant stay in Novalja. My room was poorly maintained, with stained carpet, peeling wallpaper, and a persistent musty smell. The bathroom was especially unpleasant, with moldy tiles and unreliable plumbing. Housekeeping barely seemed to happen: surfaces were dusty and trash bins hadn’t been emptied. The lobby and dining area were just as unkempt. My recent stay at this old, dirty hotel was a disappointment.

The hotel’s very dirty, despite the good location. There were cockroaches in the bathrooms, the AC smelled weird, and the breakfast croissants were rotten. The floors had huge stains all over the hotel, along with other disgusting things. The receptionist was rude and dismissed every complaint, always answering as though we were liars. When we said the croissant was rotten, he said that was normal because they’re exposed to air. We mentioned that the beds felt a bit small for tall or chonky people, and he replied that he weighs 120 kg and they were fine for him. He didn’t care what we were saying. Avoid!

We were relieved when we could finally leave this nightmare of a restaurant. Our group was downstairs, and the big beer glasses had run out, so we had to get bottled beer instead of draft. I had to ask three times for my water. The food took forever, arrived cold, didn’t taste good, and wasn’t brought out together. One person’s burger had a green bun, with no explanation, and one of my three tapas was unavailable. We also couldn’t split the bill, whether paying cash or card, only pay the whole thing at once. I don’t recommend it at all.

The food was wonderful, and the service was attentive. We also had comfortable beds and a central location. The staff made us feel welcome, and I couldn’t have asked for a better hotel stay.
