Hotel Domino

Just came for coffee and cake. The cake arrived straight away, but half an hour later I was still waiting for my cappuccino. I could've harvested and brewed my own by then 🤣

We loved our stay. The view from our clean, comfortable room was a million dollar view, and we could leave the car and walk everywhere. Breakfast being included was really nice, and they’d cook eggs to order. Parking is tight, but since it’s included, which is rare for Europe, it was fine.

After a really nice weekend in Opatija, this was the last thing I wanted. The terrace bar at Domino restaurant served me an espresso that should never have been served. It tasted awful. In my experience, the machine temperature was too low, and whoever made it clearly didn’t know how to clean the machine’s handle. I told the waitress it was terrible, and she replied that other people drink it and she didn’t care. I refused to pay, but she didn’t care about that either, saying it wasn’t her problem. I strongly recommend avoiding this bar.

We’re always willing to pay for sunbeds and parasols, but it felt rude to be treated like stupid tourists. A guy told us two sunbeds would cost 24€, which was fine. He never asked whether we wanted a parasol, so when we asked for one later, we paid another 7€. Only afterwards did we find out that two sunbeds plus a parasol would have cost 25€. When we asked him about it, he said he had asked us, but he hadn’t. That’s ridiculous and very rude. I hope he can sleep at night knowing he’s ripping people off. They’re lucky to have the location, but there were lots of empty sunbeds. Makes you wonder why…
