Villa Abbazia

They now say I was a no-show and refuse to refund my money. Do not book. We spent over an hour trying to get into the room, after 30 minutes of walking around with our luggage and asking nearby restaurant and business owners where Villa Abbazia was. Nobody knew. At the address in the check-in instructions, we couldn't find Villa Abbazia. When we finally did, the front door was locked and there were no directions for checking in. We waited for someone to come or go, but nobody did. As a last resort, I went into a larger nearby hotel and asked. A valet told me check-in was at a different hotel's reception, as if everyone should already know that. When we entered the room, the blackout curtains were drawn. Opening them and the balcony doors sent a cloud of dust into our faces. The balcony was covered in pigeon poop, molding was falling from the ceiling, the floor was dirty, and there was dried food on the room's carpet. The trays with hotel cups were dusty, and the desk was scratched and covered in crumbs. We returned to reception to report everything, but got no options or solutions. After 15 minutes in the room, we checked out and clearly explained why we couldn't continue with the booking. When I complained about the poor check-in instructions, the receptionist said, “they are a big company (Liburnia Riviera) and they do not care about properly posting information”. I'm a native Croatian speaker and know Opatija, where I lived for a number of years, but the merchant's inaccurate information and poor communication still made the property hard to find.
