Hotel Zvonimir

The restaurant deserves 4.5 stars. Everything we tried was tasty and reasonably priced, though there was no drink price list, so you had to guess what things cost. We paid 40hrk for 1L of sparkling water, which felt too expensive. We stayed three nights. The staff were really nice, the location was nice, and the room was okay, but I wouldn't recommend staying more than one night. It was very loud outside the hotel, which was disruptive in the middle of summer, especially with no AC in the room. Some people say you don't need AC, but some summer nights are very hot. Breakfast was okay, not great. There wasn't much choice, and food and cutlery weren't brought out regularly. The bathroom smelled because of old installations, and the mattress was rock hard.

Breakfast was genuine, though the coffee came from a self-service machine. The rooms are large, the beds comfortable, and everything inside the Zvonimir hotel has an interesting vintage feel, like a leap back to the seventies. There was no AC, but even in summer I didn't feel it was needed. The water pipes could be a little noisy. A very good place to stop overnight on the way to summer vacations.

We first came to this hotel just to eat and enjoyed the meal so much that we returned on the way back, the day before leaving. It was the best place we ate all week, and really cheap compared with the coast. If you want local food, go there!

For a short stay, this place is good value, especially with breakfast included. The walls don't insulate well, so you can hear all the neighbors. Breakfast, though, was really good and there was enough of it.
