Guest House Betiga

We spent our holiday at Betiga 114, HR 52215, Vodnjan. The grounds are spacious and beautifully landscaped, and we liked the clean pool, the covered seating spots, the pool and ping-pong tables, and even the little artificial pond. The villa itself was a huge disappointment. The house smelled unpleasantly of old furniture and mold, and ants were a daily nuisance, especially in the kitchen. Handles on the doors were very loose, as if they might fall off. The shower and toilet looked clean, but a sewage smell lingered even after repeated cleaning. Shower handles were missing or so awkward that adjusting the water pressure was difficult. The toilet flush was weak, and you couldn't flush a second time for about ten minutes. There was air conditioning only in the upstairs bedrooms, none downstairs, and that should have been stated. Several appliances advertised on the website, like a hairdryer and toaster, were missing. The two refrigerators barely cooled even when only partly full, so they were practically unusable. The beds were tiny and seemed better suited to children, though the double beds were acceptable. The furniture didn't match the photos, with the sofas and wardrobes significantly worse. The summer kitchen was extremely hot, had no fans, and wasn't well sealed against insects, with lots of cracks and holes. We can only give it one star, and that's generous. For a holiday costing several thousand euros, you'd expect a better standard than at home, or at least the same.

The terrace was lovely and peaceful, with a sea view and the starry sky above. Our rooms were very comfortable, and the hostess was approachable, helpful, and ready to answer questions. It's great that they welcome Camino walkers all year round. See you again!

The staff were friendly, and there were practically no odors. Konoba Betiga was downstairs, and the room had a pleasant, nicely decorated walk-through terrace with a sea view. Our room was quite spacious and had its own bathroom, but the four-person room only had two chairs.

We had a really good time.
