Apartment Vesna

We were nine people and stayed for eight days. The hospitality was a difficult start: check-in was limited to a one-hour window, and when we said we'd arrive around 4 pm, the hosts insisted we come before then because they had something to do from 4:15. The message came in a strange tone. After an eight-hour drive, we tried to put it aside and stay positive, but it left us wondering why guests who had paid a significant amount weren't a higher priority. The apartment is close to the water, and you can see the sea from some parts of it. But it needs serious investment and a deep clean. The first-floor bathroom wasn't up to standard. The pots and pans seemed extremely old and ready for the bin, the balcony chairs felt like they might collapse, so we tightened the screws, and the furniture looked like it was from the last century. We also weren't told that the owners live on the ground floor. During our stay, we felt unwelcome and watched. The hosts often sat in a corner of the garden with a clear view of our balcony, even though there were less intrusive places they could have used. That's how it felt to us. The harder part was the noise. Several times, the hosts shouted and possibly argued with each other. We couldn't tell, since it was in Croatian, but it made us uncomfortable. On some days, friends stayed at the house while the rest of us went to the beach, and they were woken and disturbed by the hosts' loud voices during the daytime. It was shocking. As far as we could tell, this had nothing to do with us or how we behaved as guests. I can't say what the 18 reviewers experienced or whether they were all actual guests, but this was nowhere near a 4-5 star stay for us. There are more details, but these are the main ones. Make your own decision about the accommodation and whether you'd be comfortable with a similar experience.
