B&B Villa Nena

Bring cash, since she doesn’t accept cards or e-transfers. Breakfast was 10 euros and dinner 15, but those prices weren’t posted or explained before we ordered, and her English is limited. Be clear about when you want meals and ask ahead so she knows when to start cooking. This is an economical farm or country stay, a real BnB rather than an Airbnb or hotel. Don’t expect hotel amenities or surgical cleanliness. I loved being able to open the window and listen to the creek at night. There were cute kittens in the yard and lots of parking. It’s wonderfully close to the falls and park, and you can use entrance 3, down the road to the right as you leave the driveway, with any tickets.

The location beside the lakes and sites is amazing, but the price was far too high. We had a really bad experience at the B&B. Communication with Nena, who seems to run the place on her own, was difficult and often confusing. We tried to find out what we owed, but she kept putting it off until the last minute. The home-cooked food was quite nice, but we had no idea what it would cost. A thunderstorm came during dinner, and Nena disappeared without explanation. We waited alone for an hour, unsure whether there would be dessert. Knocking and calling for our host didn’t help, so we left the table and went to our rooms. Half an hour later, we heard her talking with other guests. We went down to tell her what time we were leaving the next day, but there was no apology or explanation for her leaving during dinner. Communication through the booking website was difficult too. We travelled by bus, so the place felt very remote for us. We needed a taxi to get there and back, an extra 30 euros each way.

The bedrooms are old and feel out of touch with reality, and hygiene could be better. It was also hard to communicate with the owner. There’s a lot of potential outside, but the area is full of garbage and old construction materials.
