Hotel Bellevue

The included breakfast was lovely, with a great variety, and our balcony was nice too. The room did the job for a one-night stay, though it was dated and run down, with a musty smell. The bathroom was small, but the bed was fairly comfortable. The location is very convenient inside Plitvice Lakes National Park at entrance 2. The bus stop and ticket office are a five-minute walk away, as is the park ticket office further down the road. Front desk staff were very helpful with questions, buying our bus tickets online, and printing them. They also have luggage storage, so you can visit the park before or after checking in or out.

The location is amazing, really close to entrance 2, but I’d recommend staying somewhere else and driving a bit farther to the park, or looking for a campsite. The rooms are as old as people say, which we expected, but they’re also extremely dusty, with disgustingly dirty old carpets and a horrible smell. There’s no mechanical ventilation. The hotel is noisy too: after flushing, the toilets make a screaming sound for 1.5 minutes, and you can hear it from the surrounding rooms. There’s no coffee, tea or anything like that available in the room or even in the hotel. It’s totally not worth it.

I stayed for 2 nights. The location made it easy to get to Plitvice park, and the shuttle could take you to restaurants or bus stops. The receptionist was helpful, the room decent, and it had a nice balcony. Moisturizer, soap and shampoo were provided, and there were no mosquitoes while I was there. Breakfast was grand. The room wasn’t soundproof, so we heard the neighbours’ phone vibrating early in the morning. There was no kettle for hot water anywhere in the hotel, which is a basic thing I’d have liked for tea or just hot water. The shower sink was clogged, but manageable with the low water pressure.

The hotel is only rated 2 stars, but the staff were wonderful. Marija at reception was especially helpful, always sharing the information we needed with a smile. Entrance 2 to Plitvička Lakes is just 100 metres away, and the hotel can arrange a free shuttle to restaurants that are too far to walk to.
