Villa Oliva

The views from around the Villa are breathtaking, and there are plenty of places to explore and hike nearby. It’s tucked up the mountain, so Milan met us at the bottom when we arrived by taxi and warmly showed us the way up. We initially planned to relax for 10 days, but ended up hiring a car to make groceries and trips to beaches, towns and cities easier. Podgora, Makarska, Tucepi, Dubrovnik, Split and Trogir are all within reach, along with lovely hidden coves and villages. Some determined cyclists and hikers tackled the hill, but it was too hot for us. We spent mornings, afternoons and evenings in the clean, well-maintained private pool, with the sea, mountains and olive groves all around. The peaceful setting is also a haven for nature lovers: we saw geckos, lizards, moths, birds, crickets, grasshoppers and even a praying mantis. The kitchen had everything we needed, including delicious extra virgin olive oil from the groves, which you can buy to take home. I did! There’s also recycling, a BBQ and laundry. The nearby Plodine had a good range of vegan groceries, and cooking was a joy with everything to hand. Vedrana and Milan were friendly, communicative hosts. We loved our stay!
