Residence Vogt

Porec is an excellent town, with friendly locals, clean sea, good food, plenty to see and a lot of civilization. Prices are quite high, but I think it's worth vacationing there. The photo shows the welcome message in the apartment/villa, which blows your mind 🤯 We were a family with two children, and the apartment suited us well for a quiet holiday. It had two rooms, a very OK living room, and was very clean and reasonably well maintained. The terrace was excellent, with a small garden in front that we didn't use but which made a pleasant extension. The residential area meant quiet after 10:00 pm, so music or noisy parties with friends were out of the question. For us, that was fine. The pool hours, though, felt extremely strict, from 10.00-20.00. Our children would have liked to swim earlier and maybe stay later, especially since the pool had no shade at all. Around 11.00-17.00, at 35 degrees Celsius, it isn't recommended to sit in the sun. The host, Ernst, a gentleman around 65 years old, and the services were among the least pleasant of all our European holiday experiences, and we've had quite a few. Without asking, he came into the apartment very scantily dressed, just shorts that were obviously at least one size too small, to tell me about places to visit nearby. It felt totally unprofessional. He used a map and pen, but I couldn't understand the recommendations because he spoke in extremely complicated English-French-German 🙈 His other instructions were to set the refrigerator to level 2 out of 6, which he demonstrated himself, and to switch on the AC only when we were in the apartment. The AC request was fine, and that's what we did wherever we stayed. There was no washing machine for clothes or dishes, as stated in the facilities description, and over our 10 days the linen and towels were never changed. We had to choose a laundromat in town, taking a few hours out of the holiday and compromising the day. There was no soap, shampoo, or other completely normal hygiene products in either the bathroom or kitchen. For a family of four, we were left with only two rolls of toilet paper. I messaged him after about five days to ask for more, but he didn't reply. When I told him face to face the next day, he answered in an absolutely fabulous sarcastic tone, "the location is not 4 stars, it's 3!" 🤯😳 So I bought some at the supermarket, where a box of 8 pieces costs 5 euros. We paid 2392 euros for 9 nights! We miscalculated our departure date after being disconnected on vacation 😎, and the day before had visited Plitvice Lakes, a round trip of about 700 km by car, plus the visit on foot. Since no other guest was due to arrive immediately, we agreed to stay one more night for a fee. The nightly price jumped to 275 euros because peak season had started about two days earlier 😂 Ernst, I'm still waiting for the receipt for the cash you requested. Since you're Swiss, you're fair and know you have some taxes to pay, right?
