Rubin Sunny Hotel

We had a very good breakfast and lunch, with everything we needed on the half-board plan. The pool was nice, and the beach nearby has natural shade from trees. The city center is close enough to walk to. A good hotel with what you need for a nice vacation.

The lunch buffet was delicious, with plenty of choices for different tastes. Breakfast had lots to choose from too, though we didn’t enjoy the flavor much. The room was clean but felt dated. In the bathroom, the old shower curtain looked bad, and the rusty shower rod seemed close to breaking, so the operator should replace it. I hardly saw the service, and the cleaners came very late. Towels were only provided when we asked. For the price, it’s good, especially if you don’t spend much time at the hotel.

The restaurant and lobby looked very modern, and the food was excellent, with something for everyone. We liked the room, which matched the photos, and the location was good, near the center, with discounts available at the beaches. We had an issue with the only charging outlet in the room, but some really nice people brought an extra cable and sorted it out within an hour. The hotel is quite old and they’re trying to make repairs, though progress is slow.

The location was exactly what we needed. The local beach is about a minute away, with deck chairs, a small enclosed pool area for kids, and steps and ladders into the sea. The beach isn’t sandy, like the rest of this coastline, and there are plenty of other places to swim along the shore. A couple of restaurants are nearby, and Porec town center is a 20-minute walk, or you can catch the land train from the beach. The pool was lovely, and we could always find a sunbed. Breakfast and lunch were included, with an amazing range of food. We’re both vegetarian and ate really well, though vegans might have a harder time. The rooms were a little worn and could use some care, but they were clean, quiet, comfortable, and did the job since we didn’t spend much time there. Ours had a safe but no mini fridge. The tap water is safe to drink, so that wasn’t a big deal. It might not be perfect as a hotel, but it worked perfectly for us.
