Residence Kamenjak

The room was pleasant, with a well equipped kitchen and a bathroom with a shower. There was no washing machine, which made a longer stay less convenient. The pool was clean and set away from the road, and parking was large and free. Reception is elsewhere, though cleaning staff are around each morning. There are a couple of beaches nearby: one was a little dirty, while the other had clear water but lots of boats. We were on the first floor, and there were youth parties downstairs every night. The peninsula seems very popular with campers, who are everywhere. For our family, this was our first and last visit.

The rooms are okay, but several things were awful. The water heater kept leaking, the TV barely worked, and the air conditioning wasn't very good. Parking was a real problem: it may be free, but there was almost never a space nearby. The pool water was salty, and neither the internet nor cell reception worked. I don't recommend it.

We came as a group of seven and booked two apartments, expecting them to be at the advertised address. Instead, both were 15-20 minutes away, in separate buildings about eight minutes apart. That would be awful for a family traveling together. The receptionist was rude and said she couldn't help, even though we hadn't been told the apartments were in different buildings. She also refused to let us speak with a manager, saying there was nothing to be done. We would have left right then if we'd found another acceptable place. At night, walking between the accommodations, we were nearly attacked by wild animals near the road.

The apartments were decent, clean, and well kept, and the street was quiet. Reception was kind, helpful, and understanding. They're not there around the clock, but there's a phone number to call if anything comes up. The apartments are a bit far from the sea, so having a car would help, though you can rent a bicycle at the hotel. There aren't many parking spots by the apartments, and you may have to use the roadside. Local shops are about a relaxed ten-minute walk away; larger supermarkets are a 15-minute drive. There are a few ways to enjoy the sea. I recommend exploring the amazing beaches in Kamenjak national park. Bring sea shoes and a sun shelter, and if you're driving, you'll need to buy a ticket in the citycenter.
